The medication addresses the pain. It does not address the environment that produces the pain. — Papa Chijioke, Traditional Herbalist

Who is behind this

Forty years of practice. One purpose.

My name is Chijioke. Most people who find their way to me call me Papa Chijioke.

I have spent over forty years as a traditional herbalist in Imo State. Not the kind found at a market stall. The kind that families call when the hospital has run out of answers — the kind that sits with a patient and maps the full picture before recommending anything.

In four decades of practice, the condition I have seen most consistently mismanaged is the Nigerian stomach. The acid tablet addresses the pain. It does not address the stomach wall that has weakened over years. And so the pain returns. Again and again.

Old Roots Wellness exists to document what my practice has refined over those forty years — in a structured, accessible form that any Nigerian adult can follow at home.

What we believe

The knowledge that pre-dated the pharmacy is not gone.
It is undocumented.

🌿
Management is not recovery
An acid tablet quiets the burning. It does not rebuild what the years of acid exposure have taken from your stomach wall. Real recovery requires a different kind of attention.
🌳
The old knowledge worked for a reason
Nigerian elders managed the stomach long before modern pharmaceuticals existed. That knowledge did not disappear when the tablet arrived. It simply stopped being passed down.
📚
Protocol matters more than ingredients
Bitter leaf alone is not the answer. Scent leaf alone is not the answer. The preparation method, the timing, the correct sequence — that is what determines whether the protocol produces results or nothing.

What is inside

What the protocol addresses that the tablet never reaches.

The root of recurrence
Why the bacteria returns after antibiotic treatment — and what the stomach environment is doing that keeps inviting it back.
The bitter leaf preparation
The specific preparation method that determines whether the active compounds reach the stomach wall or pass through without effect.
The scent leaf timing
The exact window before meals when scent leaf works with the stomach's own process rather than against it.
The three-phase sequence
Active ulcer management, stomach wall rebuilding, and long-term prevention — addressed separately in the correct order.
The trigger exit protocol
How to know which food triggers are permanent and which are temporary — and the structured process for reintroducing foods safely.
The maintenance ritual
The simple ongoing practice that keeps the stomach wall strong so the recurrence cycle does not restart after recovery.

The protocols documented by Old Roots Wellness are natural, supportive lifestyle protocols built on traditional Nigerian plant preparations and dietary practices. They are not drugs, medical procedures, or substitutes for clinical care.

If your symptoms are severe, include bleeding, significant weight loss, or persistent vomiting, please see a doctor immediately. These guides support recovery alongside medical management, not instead of it.
